200 TMAX: lighter and sleeker with new chassis

The new TMAX is closer to a motorcycle than ever,” says Naoki Segawa, today in charge of Product Planning for Yamaha's scooter line up in Europe. The ingredients of this model’s improvements are a completely new chassis including an Aluminium frame and new suspension components as well as totally new bodywork.

Honda ST 1300 - Ride Review

Kawasaki ZX6RR - Better the second time around.

Kawasaki Vulcan 2000 -

In the cruiser category bigger is definitely better, and the super-macho new Vulcan 2000 is the largest displacement V-Twin in the world. This high-powered flagship machine is unlike anything in the cruiser category and completely redefines Kawasaki's brand DNA in this important market. Complementing the engine's massive size and impressive power output is an attractive style that mixes modern and traditional design elements in a streamlined, highly integrated package. Centrepiece of the Vulcan 2000's remarkable styling is the streamlined headlight nacelle enclosing a "gatling" projector-beam headlamp.
Engine displacement is an incredible 2,053 cc, making the Vulcan 2000 the largest displacement production V-Twin in history. Not only does this muscular power plant produce massive amounts of torque and horsepower, it is also one of the best-looking VTwin engines in the world, with the huge gracefully tapered cylinders attractively accentuated by the long pushrod tubes and curvaceous engine covers.
The "stretched" low-and-long chassis is just as impressive. As the top model in Kawasaki's cruiser line-up, every detail expresses the high quality, superb comfort and feeling of trustworthiness customers expect from a flagship machine.

I think there are other advantages to the Guzzi layout then cylinder cooling and I would love to see a water cooled transverse-V motor. To me it's a big part of the appeal. The impact on handling as well as the look. Water cooling is coming. It would be hard to avoid. Even Harley has a water cooled bike(two if you count the new Buell). I say bring it on. More power good. And incorperating the trans into the engine to shorten the length of the drive train would be a huge step forward. I would love it. Not holding my breath on any of this though.
the 848 looks stunning in white.

I was there too, very early. I stared at it like everyone else. Last year at the Vancouver Show, Helicopter Jim had his at the Guzzi display. Again, people stared in amazement that M.G. could make something like that. Squids, greasers, mods, everybody. Too bad they couldn't start it inside, it sounds over the top frickin' unreal. They could use that same body style and fit it to the new format of bike frames they have. Realistically, they will have to use an engine that currently meets noise and emission requirements, so the MGS-01 engine's state of tune will never be seen again. Just won't happen. In fact, I don't know why one of us hasn't tried to find this bodywork and adapt it to a standard V11. It would be much easier than adapting it to the new format. Hey Greg, is there a price listing for the bodywork for the MGS-01? I think I have a plan!!Steve

MV Agusta have updated all models for 2007. One of them is the F41000R and yes, we are talking colours. But believe us, those new colours have been researched and combined with Michelangelo's touch. That's why the F41000R looks so fresh in white and black. The 2006 F4 1000 R engine had already received a lot of updates to make it cleaner and the 2007 engine stays the same. The Euro 3 modifications that had to be made involves adjusting the Magnet Marelli fuelling system and adding a lambda sensor directly in front of the catalyser. To achieve this MV Agusta F4 1000 R now features a one-piece exhaust system with no joints. This minimises the risk of anything disturbing the airflow and that means a smoother ride. The F4 is not restricted to any particular top speed and can do more than 300km/h, hence the need for the radial Brembo mono block brakes. The F4 1000 R produces 174bhp @ 11.900rpm and 111Nm @ 10.000rpm. Also available in red/silver and black.

SUZUKI GSX 1300

Well the big Yamaha TMax is rumored to be arriving in the U.S. next year. This is a wildly popular scooter that is designed more for performance than anything else. The suspension and motor have more in common with traditional mc's than scooters.

Here is a brief description from Yamaha Japan:"Think of the TMAX as a sports bike that looks like a scooter. The frame, suspension and engine are pure motorcycle. And with a cruising speed of 160 km/h and sports bike handling qualities, this is one high-performing roller. No unit swingarms or other scooter orthodoxy on this hot-rod. The new TMAX runs fuel injection and higher compression for improved driveability in the low and medium rpm ranges. The suspension has also been upgraded for improved ride quality. • High-tensile-steel Diamond Frame • Liquid-cooled DOHC 4-valve Parallel Twin Engine • FI • 498cm3 • Radial Tyres • Dual Front Disc Brakes"Here is a great video of the bike running a short course with the TMax:
The Yamaha TMax is the flagship of the their scooter line. Essentially if offers performance over efficiency. For the record most of the big scooters have a similar sport touring look to them but I don't see it being a clone of the Majesty. Some of the differences from the Majesty are a larger twin motor vs. a single, dual disc brakes, mc like suspension, frame mounted motor are a few of the details. This TMax is Yamaha's equivalent of the Honda SilverWing and Burgman 650 for sophistication. If you want a new design from Yamaha you will have to wait a while for the 250 sport Majesty:

bike and read something about it?
Not long ago we heard about the tie-up between Cagiva and Kinetic. Under the deal Kinetic was to manufacture 125cc 2stroke and 4stroke bikes. That wasn’t exciting by any means for us, considering the existing number of 125 cc bike in India. But then finally we got to know that Kinetic is also considering manufacturing the Cagiva Mito 500, a 500 cc sports bike with a single cylinder engine to be sourced from Husqvarna. Now that was music to the ears of horsepower and cc starved Indian bikers. But now things just got better. Yes the Heavens have finally opened up on the dry land of Indian biking. The 500cc bike will now be a 650cc twin. The engine will now be sourced from Hyosung. Moreover the engine will now be a liquid-cooled, DOHC, 79bhp(Yes 79 bhp!!!! Look ma finally a true sports bike in India) v-twin. The bike does not disappoint one on the styling front but does not excite either except for the fact that this may be India’s first full-faired bike. The Ducati look-alike headlights seem a little out of place as it doesn’t gel with the rest of the body but overall it’s impressive and will surely cause many heads to turn. Now the big question is about the pricing. Well even on this front the tie-up has kept things attractive. Since Kinetic will build these bikes in India, the cost should not rise too much. If everything goes as planned then the bike when launched should be available between 2.6lakhs to 2.9lakhs on road. But considering the present scenario I am not very sure if this bike will be launched here and how much time is again a big question. It might be offered in limited numbers though like the Aquila. Let's hope this also doesn't turn out to be another story which never saw the face of reality.

Suzuki Hayabusa

Suzuki introduced the sportbike Suzuki GSX1300R, popularly known as the Hayabusa, in 1999. Since its inception the Suzuki Hayabusa was widely regarded as the fastest production motorcycle in the world until major Japanese motorcycle manufacturers voluntarily imposed speed regulators in their bikes. The Hayabusa derives its name from the Japanese term for the Peregrine Falcon, the fastest creature on the planet with speeds in excess of 300 km/h in its hunting dive. The Hayabusa's 4-stroke, four-cylinder liquid-cooled 1299cc engine enables it to generate an enormous peak power of 175 bhp at 9800 rpm and reach from 0-100 km/h in three seconds flat. The Hayabusa's roaring success prompted other motorcycle manufacturers to come up with similar speed merchants like the BMW K1200S and the Kawasaki ZX-14R.

Kawasaki ZX12R Ninja

With the Kawasaki ZX12R Ninja, Kawasaki plunged into the high-performance sportbike war raging among the Japanese motorcycle manufacturers. The Ninja's liquid-cooled, 1199cc DOHC, 16-valve 4-cylinder engine generates a peak power of 178 bhp at 10500 rpm.The Kawasaki Ninja's revolutionary all-aluminium monocoque frame and cast steering swingarm pivot areas realise an extremely stiff structure and contribute to the bike's superb high-speed stability and supersport handling performance. The ZX12R's wind-tunnel designed fairing was developed with help from Kawasaki's aircraft division and the redesigned upper cowl has a shorter nose for improved aerodynamics and a sportier look. In honour of an agreement reached among Japanese manufacturers, starting with 2001 models, Kawasaki introduced speed limiters in the ZX-12R to reduce the bike's top speed to 300 km/h.
Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird
The CBR1100XX was the culmination of Honda's ambitious effort to produce the ultimate superbike with a breathtaking performance. The unique design of the Blackbird facilitates excellent aerodynamics by achieving a small frontal area and one of the lowest effective coefficients of drag in motorcycling, while ensuring a remarkably high level of wind protection and rider comfort. The CBR's liquid-cooled, 16-valve DOHC inline-four cylinder 1137cc engine generates a peak power of 153 bhp at 10000 rpm. On the braking front, Honda's revolutionary Linked Braking System (LBS), first used in the 1993 CBR1000F and completely revised on the 1996 ST1100, simultaneously engages both front and rear brakes when either the front brake lever or rear brake pedal is used. The CBR's dual-spar diamond-configuration aluminum frame features a triple-box-section extruded aluminum swingarm that offers exceptional rigidity without excessive size and weight. The swingarm is supported by a standard Honda Pro-Link rear suspension system which features an H.M.A.S. rear damper.

Honda launches VFR V5

Honda has long planned the introduction of the new VFR and it seems that 2009 is the perfect year. I can believe this after five years of work at the new model, but the time surely pays off as the bike promises to stands for refinement, performance and a sense for style.
Waiting to be unveiled this fall, the new Honda sport-tourer comes at the perfect time to find its place in the garages of VFR 800 and CBR 1100 XX Super Black Bird owners.
What will make it take versatility to a whole new level is the long-bragged 1000cc V5 engine inspired on the 990cc one on the RC211V. With three cylinders in the front and two in the back, the new powerplant promises to send the R1-powered Yamaha FZ1 back on the drawing board.

most appreciate the fact that it apparently didn’t fall in the “sport bike” sin. But don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen cars with V5 engines and it will definitely be sporty, but the seat is designed for comfort and the handlebars will keep the rider well relaxed and still not feel like riding on top of it. You can say that by simply looking at it so imagine what it is to actually ride one. Patience my friends, patience!
The project has been lead by engineer Yoshiteru Kinoshita helped by a team of HRC Honda designers together with the same people that made the 2008 CBR1000RR the best motorcycle in its class today and we reckon the new VFR will follow the same success graphic as it will feature new everything (frame, suspensions, brakes

First presented in 1986, the VFR is an equivalent for touring and reliability. Related to the fact that it withstood the test of time I invite you to share your opinions with us.
