The wait for a true sports bike is over

bike and read something about it?
Not long ago we heard about the tie-up between Cagiva and Kinetic. Under the deal Kinetic was to manufacture 125cc 2stroke and 4stroke bikes. That wasn’t exciting by any means for us, considering the existing number of 125 cc bike in India. But then finally we got to know that Kinetic is also considering manufacturing the Cagiva Mito 500, a 500 cc sports bike with a single cylinder engine to be sourced from Husqvarna. Now that was music to the ears of horsepower and cc starved Indian bikers. But now things just got better. Yes the Heavens have finally opened up on the dry land of Indian biking. The 500cc bike will now be a 650cc twin. The engine will now be sourced from Hyosung. Moreover the engine will now be a liquid-cooled, DOHC, 79bhp(Yes 79 bhp!!!! Look ma finally a true sports bike in India) v-twin. The bike does not disappoint one on the styling front but does not excite either except for the fact that this may be India’s first full-faired bike. The Ducati look-alike headlights seem a little out of place as it doesn’t gel with the rest of the body but overall it’s impressive and will surely cause many heads to turn. Now the big question is about the pricing. Well even on this front the tie-up has kept things attractive. Since Kinetic will build these bikes in India, the cost should not rise too much. If everything goes as planned then the bike when launched should be available between 2.6lakhs to 2.9lakhs on road. But considering the present scenario I am not very sure if this bike will be launched here and how much time is again a big question. It might be offered in limited numbers though like the Aquila. Let's hope this also doesn't turn out to be another story which never saw the face of reality.
